Celebrity chef Alex Urena's first venture is a gourmet Spanish and tapas restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. A subtle, refined setting for elaborate dishes, the design highlights the four elements. Earth is represented by delectable warm tones: corn silk, chocolate, mustard, and sweet butter. The soaring space speaks of the sky with three dramatic light coves, and an enormous frameless glass storefront that invites the outside in. Glittery bronze mirror ribbons reflect diners as though in water. Lastly, the fire element is found through an opening in the dining room to the adjacent kitchen, where visible cooking flames produce Urena's culinary delights.
